Steve Bent of Bents Cycling and Fitness out of Lakeland, Florida has been gracious enough to provide a Pika Pack Works soft carrying bag to Building Champion Cyclist Fl which will allow the cyclists to safely transport their bikes to fly to and from national events.

BCC Training Knowledge

BCCyclists continues to expand and hopes to provide resources to help the young cylists progress in his/her cycling endeavors. A new blog BCC Training Knowledge has been started and in time will provide a wealth of training information. Only certified coaches and contributors to this program will be providing articles to BCC Training Knowledge and we hope to have monthly updates. The first article was provided by Drew Edsall of Endurance Factor.

The 2008 Florida Mountain Bike Cross Country Scene

The 2008 mountain biking XC session is rapidly approaching with the first South Eastern Regional Championship (SERC) sponsored by Gone Riding is being held at Gainesville, Florida (Haile's Trails) on March 16, 2008 followed by Bryson City, NC (Tsali trails) on April 6, 2008. Several young, up and coming riders are striving to make a national impact.

Jamie Knight (resident of Polk County) at 16 years old is the defending Junior National Sport Champion and has a long term agenda. He will be racing in the Expert/Pro division and hopes to show he has physically matured.

Regan Woodall (resident of Ocala) is the defending 2007 Sport (19-24) National Champion as well as Florida’s 2007 most improved mountain bike cyclist and now racing Expert/Pro.

Martin Cox (resident of Gainesville) is a 17 years old and is my nomination for the Florida Cycling Hall of Fame Junior Rider of the Year (under 18). At the age of 17 Martin is also racing out of his age group and won last years primer Reddick, Florida fall series race. Martin is improving rapidly and his coaching with Endurance Factor is developing this young man into a national level semi pro mountain bike specialist.

VO2 Testing

Drew Edsall of Endurance Factor is a certified coach and performs a variety of services. He recently conducted testing on the youngest of the BCCyclists riders finding he had room for improvement. Who would have thunk the fastest 16 year old on a mountain bike in Florida and the defending National Sport Jr Champion had room for improvement. 12hrs of Santos Februrary 16, 2006

Chris Janiszewski Ryan Woodall doing some pre lap meditation. Well the 12 Hrs of Santos, in Belleview, Florida presented by Gone Riding is in books and mother earth provided excellent weather and near perfect trail condition for the 8 to 9 mile course with about two miles of top notch technical trails (red trails). First off – Congratulations Harvey Minton for his 12hr solo win. I had the pleasure of riding with him at the 8 to 11hr mark and I must say the guy was still flowing along and lucid as if he was at the 4 hour mark. Chris did not have the best of races cramping early and never recovering as of darkness when he decided to pack it in and save it for another day. As for the Building Champion Cyclist Fl riders. Regan Woodall teamed up with his brother Ryan Woodall, Trent Maddox and Bob McCarty for a solid win the Expert/Pro category. Martin Cox, Drew Edsal, Jamie Knight and Mark Gerard teamed up and took a solid 2nd place. Jamie Knight managed to pull off a blazing sub 42 minute lap during his night time lap to keep the team on the same lap as the leaders. $150 Raised

The Fund Raiser was a moderate success and a Thank You to all that donated items for this cause. Items of Multi Tools, Saddles, and Handle Bar Grips to Wheels were donated and $150 was raised. We had hoped for $300 to $400 to be raised but logistics feel through and some of the larger prices items never made it to the site. Plans are to place some of these items on E bay in the future. These funds will be used to purchase a multi vitamin and nutritional supply packet for the riders prior to the intense training of respective national races this summer.

Anything you have that has a potential value. If it is full donation just hand it over and it's for sale at the 12 hour and carried over if not sold for another day. If you want to sale something and donate a percent you have to state the price and are responsible to pick the item up at the end of the day if not sold.
