State Road Race (Florida)

James Knight placed 7th in the Florida State Championship age class Junior 15 to 18 race on June 14, 2008. He found he was in a difficult spot with a complete team from the Miami area having control of the race and matching his efforts. I sure this was a good cycling experience, but road racing is a team sport. The following day he placed 9th in the Category 4 Florida State Road Race on June 15, 2008.

May/June Racing Update

The Annual Bump N' Grind! is part of the USA Cycling USAC-MTB National Calendar (Category 3) as well as the American Mountain Bike Challenge (AMBC) and Junior Olympic program.

Well Florida had a large contingent attend this classic race in the hills of Alabama. Known for its long climb and the decent of “Blood Rock” our Local #1 Pro, Ryan Woodall took the win for the second year in a row. Word is Ryan sat in for the first half of the race and just waited to see who had the goods. Well Ryan reeled them in and won with a four (4) minutes margin. Results

Moving on to the Bccyclists Riders. Not much of a showing in the Junior Category, which is rather disappointing for the growth of the sport. Must be the gas prices. Regardless Jamie Knight and Brent Hall went head-to-head for two 18-mile laps. Brent seemed to be in control for the climbs with Jamie dominating with his inspiring bike handling skills on the way down. This race came down to a sprint with Jamie taking the win with a time of 2:29.50 and yes Brent also rode a 2:29.50. Regan Woodall sat this one out recovering from a knee issue which seems to have been corrected after his coach Matt Goforth provided him with Laser Bike fits for both his road bike and MTB bike and supplied him with some foot beds to correct any mechanical issues with his gait.

Martin Cox at age 18 raced the Semi Pro Race coming in 5th in a time of 2:25.36. Once again his Coach Drew Edsall of Endurance Factor bested Martin with Drew now ranked #1 in the USA for Semi Pro’s.

Martin and Jamie also raced in California Nationals earlier in the month with some very respectable finishes. Visit their blogs for details.
